I was stationed at Albrook AFB from 1958 thur 1961. Was in the Canal Zone Motorcycle Club at
Gatun. Knew several people who graduated BHS in 59-60 and 61. Worked on the flight line at Albrook in Transit Alert, and was also Crew Chief on the Comm Gen aircraft. Just so you folks who no longer get to here de Queens english and to bring back a memory or two. CHS 58 and still here in Paradise or what is left of it.. Dual sider but the heart is still in the good side, where the North wind blows during Dry Season. Gyatun mon Gyatun. But have lived in Gyambo, Rodman, Margarita and Cardenas (now) and Gatun live in Gatun during the week and Cardenas when I am off.

Frank Townsend told me about your homepage when I saw him at my sister's (Jane Wilson, BHS '65)son's (Mike Davison, father Barry Davison) wedding in Dallas two weeks ago. Thanks for the web site.
We are still enjoying what is left of the old Canal Zone,
living in Gatun on the now called "Ghost Coast" due to the
fact that there is less and less Zonians still living on the
Atlantic Side. Fishing is still good down the Chagres River,
not to mention the water. Can still drink an ice-cold Panama
beer for 35 to 55 cents and eat cerviche for $1.50. We are
fortunate to still be living in Paradise.

I was so excited when I initially found this page that in my introductory, I forgot to mention that I lived in Colon
and attended St. Joseph's Parochial High School that was located on 10 and Central Avenue. The school was operated by Franciscan Nuns and Vincentian Priests. If anyone browsing on this site know of someone who attended St. Joseph and/or St. Mary's Academy in Colon, please have them send me a note.
Once, again, I have to congratulate Matthew on a job well done. It's sure nice to read about some of the fun things we did while living in Panama. All Zonians have a special feeling about the country and the Canal. Dios te bendiga y sique con el buen trabajo.

Wonderful job! I graduated from BHS in '62. Although only

Matt, I could spend days reliving all the memories that are listed here. Great job. Excellent site for all Zonians to revisit a part of their past. My children just can't understand what its like to race the rain, go to the chinese gardens for "ginnups", sitting in a mango tree with a salt shaker or having Christmas Tree wars. They were deprived. Not me, I have all those memories.

Looking forward to the Reunion this July - BHS 72, Thanks Mark Maravilla. We'll be a little older and greyer but the Ron Cortez will taste the same. Looking for anyone that raced motocross at Miraflores or Gatun with all of us.

All these years I've fantasized in silence about the ginnups,black palms and mangoes,the royal blue butterflies,the iguanas,boas and 3 toes sloths,ridng my horses in the interior,buying a marmoset monkey in downtown Panama,and all my friends in Ft Kobbe Elementary,Ft Kobbe Riding Club,Pacific Riding Club and Diablo Heights Jr High.My family bought an Amazon parrot in 1964 and I still have him today!(He's my baby)Anyone recognize the name LAIRD please email me.Janet Aanstoos,Jeannette Thornton,Pitt Armstrong,Debbie Goodrich from Commander's Hill, are you out there?I never knew so many people were closet Zone Lovers.Thought it was just me.Fond memories....thanks Matt.

Fort Davis GI's,
Where the heck are all you guys and girls "toward the end of Davis's life" ?
I've been in to this page for about two months now and all I've seen is a couple
of MP's,a couple of Engineers and a couple of dependant kids that lived there for

Was in the Army and stationed in the Zone twice with the 535th Eng. Det at Ft Davis. We operated the worlds only floating nuclear power plant. The power plant was moored between Gatun locks and Gatun Dam from around '66 to '76. It was calle the "Sturgis".
