I just got back from a very short visit to Panama after an absence of 20 years. Saw a few old friends and co-workers. The canal looks good. The Panamanians are doing a good job of making the transition in view of the difficulties. I found the Panamanian people to be as warm and friendly and generous as I have always remembered them. Maybe I will be back again soon. Panama has changed a great deal and the "Canal Zone" is barely recognizable. But the causeway is great and more fun than it ever was when the army was in control of it. I sure miss Panama, but as they say, you can never go home.

I came to Panama in 1910 when I was one year old. I left for Dublin, Ireland in 1919 with sisters Irene, Mary, and Margaret. I returned to Panama in 1923 to attend high school. In 1927 I started working for United Fruit Company in Cristobal until 1931 when I started working for Panama Canal Company. I continued to work for PCC until 1971 when I retired to live in Panama.

THERE'S SAFETY IN NUMBERS!!! And that's exactly what two old scared slobs like Gus Wanner and I would like to have with us as we descend into the Darien jungle (I hate the term "rain forrest"... We would like to have some folks join us (preferably those with an indept knowledge of AK47's, M16's, Beretta 9mm's and how to bean a cheba bus with a rotten mango). Let Gus and I know that you are going to be with us! This is a once in a lifetime mistak... er, EXPERIENCE! Are we not men!?

I remember being friends with a girl named "Marsha Collins" and Bonnie McNaughton..her mom was a teacher at CHS. My Uncle was Ned Morgan, and Neil Morgan- cocoa solo railroad. I only lived there 1 year but the beauty of Panama will forever remain.

Graduated from BHS in 1970. Attended CZC 70-71, then
transferred to the University of California, Davis, where I
received a US Army commission. I am still on active duty as
a Colonel, stationed at Ft Monmouth, NJ, with my wife, Heidi.
We have a son, Adam, who is attending college in Northern
California. Even though I haven't been able to attend any
of our class renunions, I would still love to hear from old
friends and classmates.
