Since I last posted, quite a few people have gotten in contact with me...Thanks!! It's been great hearing from so many...I hope to see a bunch of you at the reunion in Orlando. My sister Vielka (Gogi) told my parents about this website and they in turn told me. I gotta tell ya this is great. My dad was in the Air Force and was stationed there at Albrook A.F.S. for quite a long time. My sis and I competed our entire schooling in the Canal Zone. From Diablo elementary, through Curundu Junior High to Balboa High School. I t was quite a stretch. I have not been to Panama since 1982 but, I sure am hoping that I will be able to go this year for Christmas or next year for Carnaval. I sure would enjoy hearing from anyone who knows me so drop a line sometime. The time is drawing near, when we will not be able to return to the old CZ as we knew it. However, we can think of creative ways to keep the memories, values, etc., alive. I would like to suggest that everyone who moves to the U.S. and is inclined, in whatever state, get a name license plate with some kind of designation showing where they are from, i.e., CZ ZONIE (that's me in Virginia). Or any variations, maybe pancanal czone canal z zonie or zonie1.....The possibilities are many, and distributed among all of the states widens the selections. Anyway, anyone who sees a dark blue Isuzu PUP with CZ ZONIE on the plates, wave, it's me, and I'll be travellin to the Reunion! Hope to see more creative Zoner plates out there!!!

My friend Rick Passamante told me about this website and I have been very impressed! Thank you for a "taste" of home! I have been able to look up and find a few friends, thanks to this site and czbrats. Would like to find Brian Dawson, Albert Joyce, David Wilkinson, Yollie Bryant, Corey Vallance, Al Guerrero, David Wood: he owes me a bottle of wine from WAY BACK; just to mention a few and anybody else! I too did all my schooling in the Canal Zone, (Balboa & Diablo ELEM, Curundu JHS, & Balboa High). Lived at Albrook, so that makes me a military brat as well. Its been fun reading all the entry and information on this web site. I'm a Panamanian born and raised in Panama until 1985. My mom married a USA Army soldier. We came to the USA in 1986. Live in Washington DC for 2 years and moved to California, been here ever since. have not been able to go back to Panam� since the day I left. I really miss my country a lot. Most of my family still lives there. I miss them all. I was know by Alina A. Juar�z. I also miss some of my classmate and friends. I have tried everything to locate a friend of mine by the name of Deyka Bustamante. I know she move to california 3 or 4 years later after. We keep in touch for a while during her stay with her relatives here in California. She ended up moving to another state and we last contact. This is great website that brings back lots of good memories. I'm a Navy brat--my dad was stationed at Ft. Almador from '75 to '78. We lived in a big pink duplex on Van Hook St, spent almost every weekend on Gatun Lake, vacationed at Tobago Island. I attended Balboa Elem. and Diablo Elem. Looking in particular for my neighbors Archie and Richie Perez, classmates Karen Laakso, Scott Shaw, Aaron Royer, Jimmy Burch, Cameron Bell, etc. Also would like to know how 4th grade teacher Mrs. Lane (Balboa Elem), 5th grade teacher Mr. Wilkerson and 6th grade teacher Mrs. Beck (both at Diablo Elem.) are doing. How 'bout those night-time games of Ringolivio at Diablo, and chasing after mosquito abatement trucks, and chuckin' mangoes at your buddies, and (military brats, help me out here!) standing at attention for 5pm flag lowering. Please, please drop me a line if my name sounds familiar to you!!!
