Top of the morning everybody... I invite you to visit Cocoli. Maybe you can find your street and the house where you lived and then maybe not. For the years have been quite rough on Ccooli. But I heard that a "Nuevo Cocoli" will soon arise out of the old Cocoli. Yes, the new bridge will make it all possible to again travel on La Bruja Road going to that clubhouse that had the best Won-tons in all the Canal Zone. They were even better than the Balboa YMCA's won-tons. So crisp and so delicious!

Now if you need a souvenir of your visit, then I invite
you to stop by JB's Stuff. You can be there in a keystroke:

Well, that is all for now... hope you enjoy your visit.
God Bless.

In 1967 I was in Panama with the Corps of Engineers for the Panama Sea Level Canal Study. It was my first expat experience and I have never quite matched anywhere in the world. Thanks for putting this website together.

Just wanted to post my new email address (balboacz@comcast.net) . I also have canalzone@comcast.net , but decided not to use it much, because a Statesider friend of mine found it slightly amusing. He wanted to know how he could c (my) anal zone... Reminds me of the time I decided to get personalized plates in California when I first got to the States. PANAMA was already taken, so I decided to get PANCZ, thinking I was sooo cool. A couple of faggots winked at me on the freeway, 'cause they thought I was a PANZY. Took a while to figure that one out, though. It happened more than once. Got rid of those plates quickly after that. I'm just glad I didn't grow up in Colon...

I just wanted to check in and say "hi" to all of my former friends and classmates. Please drop me a line if you remember me and want to say hello. I lived on Ft. Clayton from 1975 to 1980 in the 400 area overlooking Morse road. I'm still looking for Darnell and Rafael Ward and the other crazy people who I knew in the Zone.

Hope to hear from you.

Steve

Just dropped by to see what was shaking. On days like these it would be gran to have a time machine and just go back to a date in the past... a day in the old Canal Zone where life was rather easy, not to complex and everybody said, "Manana is good enough for me." But since at the moment it is not possible then this site is the next best thing. A special hello to all you Cocolians out there. Have a great May. Also for all you mothers out there, here is wishing you all a "Happy Mother's Day." May you all enjoy many more. God Bless everybody...gotta go.

Always enjoy searching CZ/Panama-related sites. Made it to the PCSF reunion last year because it wasn't scheduled over the July 4th holiday, but unfortunately it is this year. Work committments prohibit me from taking any days off during legal holidays so I'm going to miss all the fun--the great music, great friends, and great vendors booths--darn it anyway. But this brings up a question I've had for some time....just exactly *why* does the Society schedule the reunion on July 4th every year? For those of us who have to travel from other states and countries, it's not the best time to try to make travel arrangements. Besides, many people like to stay home and enjoy the holiday and the fireworks with their families. Personally, I'm all for either moving the reunions to the week before or the week after the holiday permanently. As it stands right now, my 40th high school reunion is coming up in 2 years but unless I quit my job (seems a bit extreme and not the wisest choice), I will not be able to attend--again because of the holiday. How would one get particular scheduling issue before the Board of Directors for consideration? I checked around informally last year at the reunion and the 30 or so people I asked all said they would definitely prefer that the reunion NOT be scheduled during the same week as the holiday. If all 30 people I asked preferred this, it makes me wonder how many other members would be in agreement too. I have yet to find out the logic in this scheduling pattern except that "it has always been this way"...or so I've been told. Anybody know?

We attended our very first Panama Reunion last summer and loved it. I was able to visit with people and friends that I had'nt seen in 30 years. That was a mind blower! Carol and I have been married 22 years, or something like that. We have three super kids. All boys. We have been up here in Salt Lake City for about 24 years. The winter olympics turned out alright, but sure did tie up the normal lifestyle. Hi to all, hope life is good. Adios.

Thanks to Sean Evans, whom I met last week in Den Haag, for telling me of this site. I hear Gamboa is home of a fabulous resort from several people. WOW.
